Each week, staff from CBC Music, Radio 2, 3 and CBC regions across the country collect songs they just can't get out of their heads [Songs You Need to Hear—SYNTH], and make a case for why you should listen, too. Press play below and discover new songs for your listening list.
Here's mine (via CBCmusic.ca):
When I first heard this song, the clouds parted and a great fire in the sky sent long, blue shadows past and down flatlands that stretched in all directions. Reflections of light pierced the dark lines that tree branches etched in the distance. In unison, strings of birds danced in figure eights. One figure eight. Two. And then I opened my eyes, feeling elated, and started writing this.
This is the psychedelic and atmospheric soul/rap song I've always wanted to hear without ever knowing it, and it comes courtesy of a Canadian collaboration between soul star Daniel Caesar, young rapper Sean Leon, and jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD.
